Rachel Sawyer – QLD

I work as an SMO in the local RADAR service providing End of Life Care to patients in Aged Care Facilities. My goal was to acquire further knowledge in the provision of EOL care and associated conditions such as mucositis, neuropathic pain, constipation, management of diabetes, crisis dosing and the such like.

I worked for 2 days on the wards at RBWH with the Palliative Care Team. This involved attending the morning hand over meetings, attending ward rounds and participating in scheduled education sessions.

I obtained clinical protocols that I have subsequently been able to share with my colleagues at RADAR.

I found the experience very valuable and would recommend to both colleagues working in GP or within the hospital setting.
