I provided education at my workplace after I completed my PEPA training. I explained that palliative care is treatment, care and support for people living with a life-limiting illness, and for whom the primary goal is to optimise the quality of life. I also explained the role of care staffs in palliative care which involves to provide emotional, physical and personal support, need good communication skills and need a caring and compassionate attitude. Care staffs involved during the education.
It went well as care staffs now have the clear understanding of palliative care and their roles while delivering care on palliative patients/residents’. Now, I can see that care staffs can identify the needs and provide emotional support to the residents with life- limiting conditions.
