Since completing her PEPA placement, Alisha has been supporting education for care staff at Baptistcare – Carey Gardens. The education activity was held between the care staff and the PEPA participant with the objective to provide basic understanding towards palliative care. Small groups were formed with care staff and powerpoint slides were distributed among them. The content was delivered with reference to a real resident and an opportunity provided for questions and answers at the end of the activity.
The education was well received and participants verbalised that they developed more knowledge and insight on when to report and what is most important in caring for individuals in their terminal phase. The information given to them provided an opportunity to go through it in more detail and ask questions about anything that they weren’t clear on in the session.
