PEPA provides opportunities for all health professionals to develop capabilities in providing a palliative approach to care through participation in placements, workshops and a range of learning resources. PEPA also supports integration of learning into your work setting and promotes networks of support between specialist palliative care providers and non-specialist settings.
PEPA is implemented in all Australian states and territories, and applicants from rural and remote areas are encouraged to apply.
This program provides an ideal opportunity to learn from experienced specialist staff to enhance skills, knowledge and confidence in the palliative approach.
PLACEMENTS
Standard PEPA placements involve a participant spending 2-5 days in a specialist palliative care service. Placements are supervised by one of our mentors who are trained in providing inclusive and culturally-responsive mentoring, to support a positive learning experience for PEPA participants.
Reverse PEPA placements, where a specialist palliative care provider comes to the participants’ workplace to provide an individualised learning experience over 2-5 days for a small group of staff. This placement model is available to organisations in rural and remote areas, the Indigenous community controlled health sector and aged care sector.
WORKSHOPS
PEPA and IPEPA workshops incorporate activities that align with the aims of PEPA and IPEPA, and integrate contemporary, evidence-based educational strategies.
Our workshops focus on developing knowledge and skills in providing an inclusive and culturally-responsive palliative approach to care, and can be tailored to a range of contexts including acute care, aged care, general practice and community health.
